Music for Relief and Causecast Support Haiti Relief Efforts
January 25, 2011
Music for Relief and Causecast are sponsoring Download to Donate, where a $10 donation enables a listener to download an album of 30 songs by several artists, with proceeds benefiting five Haiti charities helping to rebuild Haiti, including Direct Relief.
Music for Relief was started by the band Linkin Park after the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004; the organization has supported Direct Relief since then. This is their second Download to Donate for Haiti album and they have committed 20 percent of the proceeds to go to Direct Relief's Community Grant Program in Haiti.
Student Groups Generously Support Haiti Relief
March 17, 2010
Students and school groups from across the United States have given generously to support Direct Relief’s work to help people in Haiti recover from January’s devastating earthquake. To date, they have raised more than $80,000 through creative events, including bake sales, lectures, hat days and denim days (which are not allowed usually at some private schools), and more. We can’t thank them enough for their generosity and caring spirit.

Olympic Gold Medalist Joins Fundraising Effort for Haiti
Erin Hamlin among a group of generous champions
January 23, 2010
Olympic Gold Medalist Erin Hamlin, who competes in the luge, has proven that she’s a champion even before she competes in Vancouver during this year’s Winter Games. Hamlin is hosting a Direct Relief personal fundraising page to help people in Haiti. We say thanks this champion and the many others who are dedicated to supporting Haiti relief.
From school groups to companies to online communities, people are stepping up in incredibly generous ways to help the people of Haiti. Reddit.com’s campaign went viral through its web site; it has raised about $160,000 for Haiti through its fundraising page. One of its newest contributors is a five-year-old girl who is giving $73.32—the entire contents of her piggy bank—to support our emergency response and recovery efforts in Haiti., Read her story on reddit.,
The, fundraising pages are easy to build, with step-by-step instructions to upload text and photos., Donors who include “Haiti” in the page title are designating 100% of donations to help the people of Haiti.
Through we can’t name them all here, we’re grateful for the outpouring of support for our work in Haiti from so many extraordinarily generous people., We consider them all champions.
Global Partner Network Offers Assistance to Haiti
January 18, 2010,
Several of Direct Relief International’s partners from around the world have offered aid in support of our emergency relief work in Haiti. Some who had been expecting large shipments of medical supplies have asked that they be redirected to Haiti. Others have pledged cash support. This extraordinary generosity, from those with limited resources deserves to be highlighted.
The, Pakistan Institute of Prosthetic and Orthotic Services, (PIPOS), Pakistan’s primary prosthetic treatment center and amputee hospital, has contributed financial resources to aid our efforts., After the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan, PIPOS was the only prosthetic organization to remain open, so they know the dire needs of medical agencies immediately following a large disaster.,
The, Bush Hospital Foundation, (BHF) (working in Sub-Saharan Africa) was founded by Direct Relief’s International Medical Advisor Dr. Mike Marks, is contributing financial support for Haiti relief.,
Guyana Medical Relief (GMR) has pledged financial support., GMR is, a group of Guyana ex-patriates who support a network of, eight public and private hospitals in Guyana, as well as the Ministry of Health.
PRASAD Chikitsa, (Bhiwandi, Wada, and Vasai regions in India) has referred their partners wanting to make a contribution to Direct Relief., In 2004, we assisted in their recovery and relief efforts following the tsunami., ,
Likewise,, God’s Child Project, is recommending that, its partners who want to contribute to the response efforts donate to Direct Relief., God's Child is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that provides medical support and education for street children and their families in Guatemala and elsewhere., See a news story about the donation here.
Leveraging our collective resources and support, Direct Relief and its 1,400-strong partner network will better be able to help Haitians in extreme need.
Boy Donates Birthday Money for Haiti
January 17, 2010 - 12 pm
Direct Relief received a donation today from a boy who came to our offices with his mother to drop off money he had received for his birthday. He is one of thousands of donors who have selflessly supported our emergency response work in Haiti, at whatever level they are able. We are touched and grateful for your support.
