TRANSPARENCY
Direct Relief pioneered open Shareholders’ meetings for all its “investors” (every individual, company, or organization that has contributed money, material, or time to Direct Relief) to brief them on how their investments were spent. The organization held its fifth annual meeting in May.
INDEPENDENT AUDIT
An audit committee, comprised of both non-Director and Director members, retains and meets with an independent public accounting firm that conducts the annual audit. The committee also meets with the auditor, independent of any staff, including the CEO and CFO, to discuss findings. The Board’s Executive and Finance Committees meet monthly to review performance against budget and conduct general oversight.
