From the Field:

Below are notes written by Direct Relief staff as they travel in the various countries in which we work. To learn more about a particular country, please visit Where We Work.

Africa
Complex health issues ranging from poor maternal and child health outcomes, famine, malaria, malnutrition and the devastation of the HIV/AIDS pandemic barrage the continent.

Asia and Pacific
While the tsunami of December 26, 2004 devastated countries in South and Southeast Asia, the populations of many affected and non-affected countries in the region lack access to social and health services.

Latin America & the Caribbean
Although health care is improving in some countries in the region, many hospitals and clinics still suffer from inadequate resources to address the basic health needs of poor people in the region.

USA
Direct Relief’s safety-net clinic program supports clinics and health centers treating uninsured, low-income patients who would otherwise go without care, or pay high non-negotiated rates for their medicine.
