The God’s Child Project offers poor children and families in Guatemala day-to-day assistance as well as a permanent way to break out of poverty. At the Dreamer’s Center, the God’s Child Project’s facility in the highland town of Antigua, underserved children from the surrounding slums receive quality education, nutritious food, vocational training, and access to social and medical services. The medical facility and dispensary at the Dreamer’s Center is also open to the public and is well known around the area for the excellent services it offers to patients regardless of their ability to pay.
The God’s Child Project also provides healthcare services to over 2,700 underserved children and adults through a medical outreach program in more remote highland villages. It also works closely with the Guatemalan Public Health Care System, various international charitable organizations, and other governmental and nongovernmental organizations to provide health education and empowerment to more than 12,000 widows, abandoned and abused women, and single mothers. Direct Relief's ongoing donations improve the quality of care provided to the many low-income and indigent patients who are served by the God's Child Project.
In January 2009, Direct Relief provided the God’s Child Project with a large consignment that included medications for adults and children such as cardiovascular agents, gastrointestinal products, nutritional supplements, respiratory agents, and equipment items such as wheelchairs and dental equipment.
