President’s Circle members receive access to invitation-only events with visiting dignitaries and thought leaders on international development and public health. Intimately scaled receptions for President’s Circle members have recently featured several prominent speakers, including:
President’s Circle members are invited to attend private dinners with Direct Relief’s key healthcare partners. These dinners give members first-hand information about what’s happening on the ground in the countries Direct Relief supports.
Some recent partner dinners have been held with Robin Lim, poet, author, midwife, and founder of two general health and midwife clinics in Banda Aceh and Bali, Indonesia, and Dr. Hezron Mc’Obewa, founder and director of the Kenya-based OGRA Foundation, which provides medical services in the Nyanza Province. Dr. Mc’Obewa serves as Direct Relief’s Regional Medical Advisor for Africa.
Private Warehouse Tours
Members of the President’s Circle also have the opportunity to tour Direct Relief’s secure warehouse, where they get a behind-the-scenes look at how critical aid supplies are distributed to Direct Relief’s global clinic partners. Private tours can be arranged by appointment.
President’s Circle members also receive early invitation to Direct Relief’s special events, which include private cocktail receptions, presentations, and the biannual American Riviera Wine Auction. Sponsored by the Santa Barbara County Vintners Foundation, this popular event features superb food and wine as well as an offering of rare vintages by the region’s finest winemakers.
President’s Circle members may attend a quarterly luncheon hosted by Direct Relief’s President and CEO Thomas Tighe. Topics include global health issues as well as updates on Direct Relief’s U.S. and international program work.
Executive Team Briefings
President’s Circle members enjoy internal briefing emails and teleconferences from the Direct Relief executive team and program staff on relevant healthcare issues and Direct Relief’s response. These briefings allow members to get up-to-date information on what’s going on at Direct Relief before it’s available to the public.
