Aid Sent to Mexico in Wake of Hurricane John

Direct Relief today sent an air shipment, carried by partner group Aero Medicos, containing $10,000 worth of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals to the town of Cadeje in Baja California Sur, Mexico, which was badly affected by Hurricane John earlier this month.

The shipment, composed of antibiotics, analgesics, heart medications and other primary care supplies, was flown directly into Cadeje and will be fully utilized by Aero Medicos’ staff of volunteer doctors.

Being at the bottom of the socio-economic scale of Mexican society, the largely native Indian population of Cadeje is particularly vulnerable, as they receive little in health care services from either local or national government support systems even in the absence of disasters.
