Emergency Tornado Aid Arrives

Today Direct Relief issued an emergency shipment to Community Health and Emergency Services, Inc. (CHESI) in Cairo, IL. The shipment, valued at more than $10,000 (wholesale), is set to arrive tomorrow.

SEMO Health Network (SEMO) in New Madrid, MO requested assistance to support the communities of Puxico and Oak Ridge, MO. On February 29th, Stoddard County was hit by an EF2 tornado. SEMO Health Network dispatched their Emergency Response Medical Team to help the county’s relief efforts. Many of the trailer homes in the affected area were completely destroyed. SEMO requested first aid supplies, medical instruments, Tetanus vaccine, and oxygen masks to care for over 3,200 residents impacted by the storms.

Direct Relief is working to fulfill shipments for SEMO and Community Health Ministry in Wamego, KS, as well as additional shipments for CHESI.
