Lookout Fire Brings Disaster Response Close to Home

Disaster response has hit close to home, as the Lookout Fire burns in the Painted Cave area of Santa Barbara – visible from Direct Relief’s headquarters. More than 100 homes have been evacuated and it is estimated that the slow-moving fire has consumed between 20 to 25 acres.

Direct Relief is closely monitoring the situation through the Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management and the Public Health Department to determine the need for medical supplies and pharmaceuticals for first responders and healthcare providers in the affected area.

We currently have the most requested items such as nebulizers, respiratory drugs and N-95 masks in stock and have offered our assistance and support for any relief efforts.

If you are a resident of Santa Barbara, particularly the Painted Cave area, you can monitor the fire through the Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Services Facebook page.
