Assisting Bolivians Affected by Severe Flooding

In response to the weeks of severe flooding in Bolivia, Direct Relief is working with its longtime partner the Rio Beni Health Foundation to help people affected access critical medicines and supplies.

More than 58,000 families have been affected and heavy rains are expected to continue in Bolivia for weeks to come. The lack of clean water and the threat of mosquito-borne disease pose long-term health risks, even when the flood waters reside.

Working in close collaboration with national and local health authorities, Rio Beni  is actively involved in the delivery of health care to the thousands of people affected by the flooding.

On an ongoing basis, Rio Beni delivers primary health care, health education, training, and potable water to indigenous families living in the upper Amazon rain forest in northwestern Bolivia.
