Emergency Update: Chile Earthquake

UPDATED 9/17:

A powerful 8.3 earthquake struck Chile at 7:54 PM local time, Sept. 16,  prompting more than one million people to evacuate inland as tsunami waves several meters high destroyed homes and buildings along the coast. Chilean Officials have declared the towns of Coquimbo and Tongoy catastrophe zones. Ten deaths are reported.

Direct Relief has reached out to its local partners in Chile to assess the potential need for medical support.
