Texas faces a state of emergency after historic rains caused deadly flooding across nine counties in and around Houston. The flooding forced thousands to evacuate their homes, hundreds more to require rescue from emergency crews, and has claimed the lives of at least six people.

To ensure medical professionals have the resources they need to continue care, Direct Relief is making available its standing inventory of critical medicines and supplies as well as its emergency reserves – items set aside specifically for disaster events — should the need arise.

As the situation evolves, the Direct Relief Emergency Response Team will continue its outreach to clinic and health center partners in the affected areas,  ready to respond with medical assistance.
