Sustainable Power Solutions

Ukraine

Russia has conducted a relentless bombing campaign to destroy Ukraine’s power grid.  Amid freezing temperatures, a wave of Russian airstrikes in late November left most of the country’s electricity users without power.  The attacks have diminished the functioning of the healthcare infrastructure that lacks backup power.

Responding to requests, Direct Relief has committed significant funding to acquire generators and other power solutions for Ukrainian health facilities.

Our laboratory [now] has a powerful generator, so we no longer have to stop work during power outages and are able to conduct…sample analyses at any time

In conditions of constant power outages, the generator is very necessary for the hospital. It is very important for seriously ill patients to be treated in comfortable conditions, with light, hot water, and heating. We also received solar panels that will be installed near the laboratory to charge the generator.
