An attack on the Syrian town of Douma Saturday killed more than 40 people and injured hundreds, many of them women and children.
Survivors flooded nearby hospitals bearing symptoms consistent with chemical gas exposure, according to the American Relief Coalition for Syria.

Emergency medical supplies from Direct Relief are already en route to Syria Relief and Development, a humanitarian group helping care for the thousands fleeing escalating violence in Douma and the broader region of Eastern Ghouta.
“Nearly 64,000 people have now been evacuated from Ghouta and resettled in Northern Syria,” said Amany Qaddour, regional director for Syria Relief and Development. “We’ve been working with other NGOs and local Syrian communities to help over 14,500 people so far, but the needs are vast and increasing daily. Last week’s chemical attacks have aggravated the existing crisis of internally displaced people as families flee Douma for safety.”
Direct Relief also supported SRD with chemical-weapon antidotes and protective gear after last year’s deadly gas attack in Khan Sheikoun.
