Over the past seven days, Direct Relief has delivered 307 shipments of requested medical aid to 41 U.S. states and territories and nine countries worldwide.

U.S. Storms

This past week, a series of severe storm systems moved over the United States, including Direct Relief’s home state of California. Northern California communities were particularly impacted, with power outages, infrastructure damage, and even several levee breaches.

Direct Relief immediately offered its medical inventory to health facilities across California and other states experiencing weather-related impacts. On Wednesday, Direct Relief staff were on hand in Montecito, California, to assist with sandbag distribution for residents concerned with flooding.
