Operational Update: 11 Million Doses of Medication Distributed Over Past Week

Over the past seven days, Direct Relief has delivered 369 shipments of requested medical aid to 45 U.S. states and territories and 13 countries worldwide.

The shipments contained 11 million defined daily doses of medication, including surgical supplies, personal care products, and more.

Puerto Rico, Caribbean Pediatric care

This week, the Pediatric Hospital Foundation inaugurated the first pediatric interventional radiology room in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean at the Dr. Antonio Ortíz University Pediatric Hospital of the Río Piedras Medical Center.

The radiology room is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to allow doctors to perform minimally invasive diagnostic and treatment procedures for pediatric patients.

Direct Relief contributed $1.6 million to the construction and founding of the project.

Material aid for Ukraine

This week, NGO Ukrainian Soul distributed medications and healthcare supplies donated by Direct Relief to over eight local hospitals in collaboration with Ukraine’s Ministry of Health.

Since Feb. 24, 2022, Direct Relief has provided medical aid to Ukraine weighing more than 2.7 million pounds, or 1,350 tons, with more on the way.

Since Jan. 1, 2023, Direct Relief has delivered 5,439 shipments to 1,452 healthcare providers in 53 U.S. states and territories and 58 countries.

These shipments contained 186.9 million defined daily doses of medication valued at $567.4 million (wholesale), totaling 2.6 million lbs.
