Talya Meyers

Talya Meyers is a Senior Editor and Writer at Direct Relief, where she writes about everything from rare diseases to the impacts of natural disasters. Previously, she worked as a freelance journalist with bylines in Smithsonian Magazine, BBC Future, Refinery29, and the Santa Barbara Independent. Meyers has written about groundbreaking psychology research, a mysterious species of algae, alternative education, and a legendary California historical figure, among many other topics. As a lecturer at U.C. Santa Barbara, she taught courses in literature, sustainable living, and science and medical writing. She holds an M.A. and Ph.D. from Stanford University, and a B.A. from U.C. Berkeley – all in English.
