Operational Update: Medical Aid Shipped to 18 Countries Over Past Week; Oxygen Concentrators Prepped for Brazil

More than 2 million defined daily doses of medication were shipped over the past seven days.

Over the past seven days, Direct Relief has delivered 331 shipments of requested medical aid to 40 U.S. states and territories and 18 countries worldwide.

The shipments contained 2.2 million defined daily doses of medications, including large quantities of insulin, HIV/AIDS treatments, cancer treatment drugs, antibiotics, reproductive health products, prenatal vitamins, and personal protective equipment for the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, among many other items.

Also staged for shipment this week were 200 oxygen concentrators for health providers caring for Covid-19 patients in Brazil. The shipment was coordinated with the Society of Critical Care Medicine to assist in the country’s surge of Covid-19 cases.

In the U.S., Direct Relief delivered 310 shipments weighing 55,479 pounds and containing 415,954 doses of medications.

Since January 1, 2021, Direct Relief has delivered 7,019 shipments to 1,497 partner organizations in 52 U.S. states and territories and 68 countries.

These shipments contained 84.6 million defined daily doses of medication valued at $359.1 million (wholesale) and totaling 2.7 million lbs. (1,350 tons).
