Santa Barbara Community Invited to Join New York Native, Billy Baldwin, in Helping Sandy Survivors

Nov. 22:  Locals to assemble 1,000 Personal Care Packs Thanksgiving morning at Direct Relief warehouse in Goleta

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Nov. 16 – From 9 to 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 22), the Santa Barbara community is invited to join Billy Baldwin and Direct Relief in packing 1,000 personal care kits filled with basic hygiene items for those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Other upcoming community events include a dental kit packing day on #givingtuesday, Nov. 27, and a holiday care packing event Dec. 5 and 6. For more information or to sign up, call (805) 964-4767 or email Martha Angeles at

  2. Hi Billy/Direct Relief,
I will do my best to bring my daughters to this event, love it!
Question: We have gathered some gently used and new boots and blankets to send to Sandy families. Can we bring these items to Direct Relief to be sent along with the personal care kits? Or is there another location in SB we can take these items to be sent?
    Thanks so much,
    Dina Barton

  3. Hi, Dina. Glad you are able to come! We cannot take the boots and blankets, but we will look into finding a local organization that does take those types of items and let you know if we find one.

  4. I was born in Boston, raised in CT, and lived in NYC for a decade. I’m coming w my mom and daughters. Thank you for letting us help on Thanksgiving!
