Operational Update: 16 Countries, 39 U.S. States and Territories Receive Medical Support Over Past Week

Haiti, Pakistan, Cameroon, Colombia, and 12 other countries all received medical aid from the organization over the past seven days.

Direct Relief took part in several significant initiatives this week to supply countries with Covid-19 vaccines and other medical resources.

A third FedEx-donated flight to India arrived Sunday with 27 tons of medical aid for hospitals in the region. The latest airlift brings the total medical assistance from Direct Relief for India’s Covid-19 response to 160 tons since May 2021. That includes oxygen concentrators, medications for critically ill patients, personal protective equipment, and other requested products.

Direct Relief also worked with the governments of the United States and Mexico to deliver more than 1.75 million shots of the coronavirus vaccine. The deliveries include 1.35 million doses from the U.S. to Mexico and 400,000 doses from Mexico to Belize, Bolivia, and Paraguay.

In total, Direct Relief delivered 386 shipments of requested medical aid to 39 U.S. states and territories and 16 countries worldwide over the past seven days. The shipments contained 1.8 million defined daily doses of medications, including insulin, rare disease therapies, cancer treatments, prenatal vitamins, antibiotics, and ongoing Covid-19 support such as PPE and respiratory therapies.

This week, Direct Relief delivered 365 shipments weighing 10,191 pounds and containing 665,199 doses of medications in the U.S.

Since January 1, 2021, Direct Relief has delivered 10,500 shipments to 1,745 partner organizations in 53 U.S. states and territories and 81 countries.

The shipments have contained 124.7 million defined daily doses of medication valued at $798.7 million (wholesale) and totaling 4 million lbs.
